I got a promo copy of the album George Martin released a few years back of covers of Beatles songs by various artists. He got away with it because he was George Martin. But it wrecked - completely wrecked - the concept of him having any form of musical ability or judgement whatsoever. It wasn't just terrible - it was bad. Poor. Rubbish. Bland MOR overproduced and underimagined. So great engineer. But lousy musician. Mmm.
