The Fall Guy

It rained a lot this weekend just gone and the summer doesn’t seem to know what it’s doing.

You get seasons narrow as creeks sometimes - driving out yesterday at the edge of the woods and July I saw conkers on the trees and leaves falling off them.

June’s gone, taking with it longer nights and good omens. Midwinter always brings me solace, but until this year I didn’t know the summer solstice would scribble in my silver cloud with grey.

Sorry you’re cast in its long, dull shadow.

CLiff, my command of the English language is really misnamed- it’s more like a request, or a plea, really. Can you tell me what you just said in words I can understand?

Is this a poem, because I don’t really do verse?

I get it. Hugs, and company in the shadows.
Maybe the confusion’s coming from June taking the longer nights with it - did you mean shorter?

  4. Cliff Says:

June’s taking the longer nights. Longer nights are going, but good guess Wendy - generally I don’t know what I mean a lot today.

What happened to the italicized word?

I feel for you guys in England. My friends there are saying it’s cold and rainy but I have faith that it’s going to cheer up this month. It is really lovely at the moment in Chicago but we get really shite weather for the majority of the year so I think we deserve good stuff for the brief time we get it!

Here in the DFW area of Texas we just had the wettest June since 1928. Rivers are flooding, lakes are having to open dam’s to release water, it is crazy. That coupled with the humidity makes my hair look like the private part of a prepubescent child….or a dog with the mange. I havent fully decided yet.

  8. Cliff Says:

Kathryn - we had hailstones and lightning today. It’s messed up.

Dawn - I don’t really want to get into it, but doesn’t prepubescent mean devoid of hair?

I’m not trying to turn this into a family thing but I’m with Wendy on this, surely June takes the shorter nights with it?
Anyway however you put it it’s bloody depressing

  10. Cliff Says:

Oh COCK. You and Wendy are both right. It’s taking longer DAYS with it. Days get shorter.

Now. Do I delete your comments and correct the post like nothing happened, or do I stand by my errors?

Be a Smeaton - how you interpret that is up to you and your conscience

WWSD? I think he’d leave his mistakes up. Thanks Emom.

Only in Glasgow would the police have to rescue suicide bombers from the locals.
