I guess it’s a mark of quality. If I’m in a jewellers buying a watch or something, I like it if it feels heavier than I expect it to. Maybe that’s what he means.

I know what it is, it’s a sign of reassurance that some things are mosre stable than they appear to be.
And that is indeed a pleasant surprise in these days of lightweight manufacturing.

Children are shockingly heavier than they used to be the moment your back is turned! I was lifting a lean string-beany 7 year old up to show her the horse in the back of a stable. I could barely lift her an inch off the ground!!
