I’ve never heard that but I know that many Latin Americans are a bit touchy about the term “Americans” generally being used solely for people from the United States. They sort of have a point, if you think about it. Trouble is, there isn’t really another word for them (in English at least). Unitedstatesians doesn’t really have that ring to it.
