God: Complex
October 7, 2007
I don’t really get the whole thing about organised religion. It’s not the church stuff that I mind so much, but I’m put off by the organised part.
I tried it once, but I couldn’t get it to sync with my phone, so I just gave up. I might still have the cables somewhere.
Maybe someone will bring out a Facebook plugin or an RSS feed. Then I might be on board. Perhaps it could work with my Outlook calender.
The kind of religion that suits me if the one with post-it notes stuck on fridges and crap I should have done ages ago. I’d have a lot of time for a church that goes: “Holy fuck! – Is it Sunday already? Quick – where do we keep the hats? Jesus.”

I ‘get’ organized religion- it’s a scam. There’s no connection to God there that you don’t have anywhere you happen to be. There’s absolutely nothing special about it, and its negatives far far far outweigh its benefits for its constituents and the rest of the world. I personally consider most religious organizations criminal outfits designed to extort money, time, effort, and blind obedience for political power and its own nefarious purposes.
It has always been a serious bone of contention with me that these organizations are LEGAL- AND that they get HUGE TAX BREAKS!!!!
Oops. Sorry for the rant. I’m in that mode lately.
Is the “Jesus” at the end of the note him signing off, or the writer of the note cursing?
The two bright sparks that I work with were having a discussion the other day about the difference between Catholics and Christians……….
Umm
I just kept out of it.
Very true Ed, plus some – what a brilliant job the Church has done, in scaring millions of people into believing that hell is just a sihn away and that the poverty and misery of their present life is worth it for the reward that awaits them in the next. So just accept the ‘Christian’ teaching that birth control and homosexuality, to name but two, are wicked, hand over your souls and your cash and the Church will see you all right
Emom – that’s so stupid. Unless you work in a church, in which case, that’s scary.
Leave a comment. Play nice. I will turn this blog around.
