I am not ashamed of being sentimental about Remembrance Sunday or Armistice Day. We owe so much.
There you go.
We can never repay what we owe . My Dad was one of the fortunate ones . He came home in November 1919 after five years of battles Yes , a whole year after the Armistice ,which didn,t apply to the Hindu Kush and the Khyber pass .
It’s true. My grandfather and great uncle both served overseas until 1946 or 1947.
My father served from 1941 to 1977.
We did a trip at school round all the battlefields in Belgium and northern France, it was one of the most emotional and affecting things I’ve ever done, whenever I see these events I think back to being stood in a cemetery with small white crosses going as far as the eye can see in every direction – that’s as real as numbers get.
Leave a comment. Play nice. I will turn this blog around.
