Weekend Song – Soweto Gospel Choir

January 16, 2010

This is a bit corny, if the song stands up then so will I.

I don’t really get Bob Dylan. He’s OK and has some great songs, but I don’t get how people get him.

Here’s the Soweto Gospel Choir – now them I get. They reach into a song and find you right there in it. You can’t help but be moved.

Say it in the chorus. Proud and mournful, from the heart and slow:

young

You’re breathing out slowly, you’re in it, you’re outside. Everything and nothing, shape and emptiness. As old as you’ve become, and as much as you’ll do. Like January, in ways. Mindful and unaware with the word which makes a perfect outward breath. You’re meditating, but you knew that.
