Unseen Beatles Footage Shows Band Discovering Rare Archive Recordings

January 25, 2010

Hello reader, a bit of Monday fun here from the blog that critics are already calling “the Paris of the online world”. By that I guess they mean poetic and occasionally stunning, but with lots with lots of poo and an unwarranted arrogant streak.

Unseen Beatles Footage Shows Band Discovering Rare Archive Recordings

An undiscovered video belonging to Sir Paul McCartney shows the band unearthing songs which they themselves thought were lost forever. The video, shot in 1972, shows John Lennon in the archive room of Abbey Road, saying: “I never thought I’d find this.”

The sentiment was echoed by the two surviving Beatles, who plan on unveiling the video and the records as part of a six part BBC series to be shown next weekend.

Among the recordings is the original version of Drive My Car, with the controversial chorus refrain of “Fuck Shit Tits Cunt Yeah” – a line later beeped out for the final version at the suggestion of producer Sir George Martin.

Though low quality, the recordings will be released in the early spring, with decent-quality remastered stereo versions on the market six to eight months later “to allow people with two ears to hear the recordings as they were meant to be heard”, said Macca in wacky trademark thumbs aloft pose.

You know, even if this were true it’d probably be better than the studio-floor-hoover-bag-emptying exercise that was the Anthology series.

(BTW, I do realise that the whole post was just a wrapper for the – admittedly funny – ‘beep beep’ joke)
